The Hiking Connection

These are scarlet penstemon along the Spruce Canyon trail. I'm very blessed to be in a place with so many opportunities to connect with this sacred landscape. Every direction I look when I'm here connects me to another special mountain, canyon, river, flower or animal. Today I saw my first elk of the spring. Two weeks ago I saw two black bears across the canyon from my house. Saturday I hung out with a coyote and talked for a bit along the road.

Each day I wake here brings me to my self, to the basics of Who I Am. It's great to be alive, to be here.
