Swamp Suitcase

One of my new favorite activities that we get to do at camp is called Swamp Suitcase. Pictured are Kaylin, left, playing Chef Girl-ardee, Joe, playing the Wizard, and Kristen, as Walda of the World. They were a real hoot.

The story is, Chad, Nature's Classroom Director for Templed Hills, finds these Swamp People around camp, and he also finds a suitcase in the swamp. He shows it to them and they all say it's theirs. The kids then play a little game with these folks to see if they can guess what's in the suitcase. They go to their cabins and bring stuff back that they think may be in the suitcase. Chad then pulls items from the suitcase one by one. When the children have something that's also in the suitcase, they get points. When they don't have it, the Swamp People get points. Chad interviews each character about various items from the suitcase to give the children an idea of whose suitcase it is. The children try to guess the real owner of the suitcase before the truth is revealed.

I had a blast this week. I played a character called Diaper Dandy for Swamp Suitcase. I'll have to get pictures up on him, too. He's a super hero who uses a fitted bedsheet as both a cape and a super absorbent diaper to "fight wetness wherever it occurs." I where an orange forest service firefighting helmet and an orange headband with holes cut in for eyes as a mask, and Ohio State t-shirt, and superman boxers over long underwear. It's really fun. We really had parents and kids rolling.
