Feathers and Light

They came in bunches, filling the air between us and beyond with their songs. Whipping and dodging, singing on their uplift, the robins were back en masse and powerful in their representation of the moment.

It swooped down river, wings vertical, brilliant eyes
Searching for any prey which should avail itself
Aiming to feed its young in the privacy of
The giant nest it left early that day, fulfilling
This eternal drive to nurture and in the same act
Tear flesh from bone, talons grasp, puncture,
Ending one existence to enrich another.
Body tilts, wings close and open, slowing and
Instantly life gives its secret from nest to river, water to wing
I choose to see you again.

Wind holds secrets and passes them along freely. Weather, sun, new view of bliss, this moment shall not pass unnoticed. So many dreams pass before me, I catch one or two and let the rest whisk by in the sun-lit air. Sparkles in your eyes are dreams, sticking.
